The Art of Japanese Landscaping and Bonsai – Saturday, February 16, 9:00-11:00 am – Join Master Gardeners Sylvia Kremp and Barbara Petrucci for an introductory workshop. Please call the Penn State Extension Office at 717-263-9226 to register.  The fee is $10.00.

 

   

Beginning Beekeeper’s Shortcourse - The Franklin County Beekeepers’ Association is conducting a five session shortcourse on beginning beekeeping for anyone interested in becoming a beekeeper.  The Thursday evening classroom sessions will be on March 7, 14, 21, & 28, 2013, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Franklin County Ag Heritage Building which is located at 185 Franklin Farm Lane in Chambersburg.  There will also be a field day at a local apiary on Saturday, March 23. Cost for the shortcourse is $35.00 per family.  Subjects that will be covered include an introduction to beekeeping, bee biology, beekeeping equipment; maintaining healthy bees, installing packages and apiary colony management.  Registration is required and is limited to the first 50.  You do not have to be a member of the Franklin County Beekeepers’ Association to register.  Registration includes a beekeeping manual, disposable gloves, refreshments and membership in the Franklin County Beekeepers’ Association.  For additional information or to register, contact Penn State Cooperative Extension at 717-263-9226. 

 
 
 

Franklin County Conservation District Seedling Sale - The Annual Tree Seedling Sale of the Franklin County Conservation District is in progress. This excellent stock comes from a state certified nursery. Seedlings are sold in bundles of 25 per species.

We expect the seedlings to be available for pickup around the middle of April. Those ordering tree seedlings will be notified by mail of the date and a map of the pickup area.
Orders may be placed by stopping in at the Franklin County Conservation District office at 185 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, PA 17202, or by mailing the order form which can be found on our website http://www.franklinccd.org, along with your check payable to the F.C.C.D., no later than March 15, 2013. Please add 6% sales tax on all orders for non-farm use. Page 2 of the order form found at the website has a description of each of the available species.
